Water cutting ceremony 2023
The Grand Randoli procession of the Kandy Esala Perahera Festival 2022 returned to the temple after parading the streets yesterday (30th) on Nikini full moon Poya day, paying homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic & also the four guardian deities. Then at the auspicious time of 2.39a.m, the Relic Casket was carried in a procession to the Asgiriya Gedige temple and kept there observing an age-old ritual. The Dewala processions of the four shrines reached the Dewala premises yesterday and then took off to Gatambe and performed the ritual of water cutting ceremony in the bank of Mahaweli river. Thousands of crowds gathered near Sri Rakkanga temple in Gatambe at midnight to witness this event.

2023 කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ පෙරහර මහා මංගල්ලයේ අවසන් මහා රන්දෝලි පෙරහර ඊයේ (30) නිකිණි පුර පසළොස්වක පොහෝ දා රාත්‍රියේ දළදා සමිඳුන්ට, සිව්මහා දෙවිවරුන්ටත් සියළු ගරු බුහුමන්, පුද පූජා පවත්වමින් මහත් හරසරින් යුතුව වීථි සංචාරය කරනු ලදී. අවසන් මහ රන්දෝලි පෙරහර මහනුවර වීථි සංචාරය කිරීමෙන් පසු චාරිත්‍රානුකූලව ගෙවදුන් අතර, අනතුරුව අළුයම 2.39ට යෙදුන සුබ නැකතින් පුරාණ චාරිත්‍රයක් ඉටුකරමින් පෙරහර කරඬු වහන්සේ පෙරහරින් වැඩම කරවා, අස්ගිරිය ගෙඩිගේ රජමහා විහාරයේ තැම්පත් කරනු ලැබුවා. අනතුරුව සිව්මහා දේවාල පෙරහර දේවාල වෙත ගොස් දියකැපීම සඳහා ගැටඹේ තොට වෙත ගමන් කළ අතර, පෞරාණික සිරිත් සම්මත චාරිත්‍රවලට අනුව ගැටඹේ – මහවැලි ග‍‍ඟ නිම්නයේ දී සිව්මහා දේවාල වලට අයත් දිය කැපීමේ පුණ්‍ය චාරිත්‍රය සිදු විය. මේ අවස්ථාව දැකබලා ගැනීමට අතිවිශාල බැතිමතුන් ප්‍රමාණයක් ගැටඹේ ශ්‍රී රක්ඛංග විහාරස්ථානය හා ඒ අවට ප්‍රදේශවල මධ්‍යම රාත්‍රියේ සිට රැස්ව සිටියා.
