Lack of sufficient sanitary facilities for the local and foreign visitors was a hindrance; especially
there was a sanitary facility for foreign visitors. Following, a request made by us to the Ministry
of Tourism sufficient monetary funds were provided by them to establish modern toilets. Also,
the existing toilets allocated for local visitors were renovated, besides a new completed set of
toilets were built under the monetary funds of Central Environmental Authority for local
devotees. In addition, a nearby set of toilets, which is maintained by the Municipal Council of
Kandy, was renovated, so the local devotees of the Temple of Tooth could use it.
Furthermore, as an alternative to the wastewater, a new water purification center was established
with the financial support of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and is maintained
by the collaboration of the University of Peradeniya and the National Water Supply and
Drainage Board.
Drinking water facilities have been installed in many places of the premises of the Temple of
Tooth quenching the thirst of both local and foreign devotees. Since 2013 water supply to the
Tempe of Tooth has been substantiated with the contribution of the National Water Supply and
Drainage Board
