මහනුවර ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ ඇසළ පෙරහර ලෝක උරුමයක් ලෙස නම් කිරීමට යෝජනා ඉදිරිපත් ව ඇතැයි ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුනෙස්කෝ කාර්යාලය සඳහන් කර ඇත. එහි ලේකම් ජනරාල් ආචාර්ය පුංචි නිලමේ මීගස්තැන්න මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, අදාළ යෝජනාව පැරිස් නුවර පිහිටි යුනේස්කෝ සංවිධාන මූලස්ථානයට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇති බවය. එය අස්පර්ශක උරුමයක් ලෙස නම් කිරීමට නියමිතව තිබේ.

Kandy Esala Perahera proposed to be declared World Heritage Site UNESCO

Proposals have been submitted to declare the Kandy Esala Procession commonly known as “Esala Perahera” as a World Heritage, Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO said.

The proposals will be submitted to the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, Dr. Punchi Nilame Meegaswatte, the Secretary General of Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO Moderates Asia Pacific Consultations. Thereby, the Esala Perahera will be declared as an intangible heritage.
