“Copra” (dried up split coconuts) to light up the procession was donated by Sri Lanka Army. The Army Commander Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage symbolically presented a tray of “Copra” today (Aug. 11th) to mark this donation. Accordingly, the army will donate about 20 KG of “Copra” to light up the entire procession. Vijayabahu infantry regiment of the Sri- Lanka Army has been continuously donating the required amount of “Copra” for the procession since 2014.
After handing over the Copra stock to Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Commander of the Army met Hon. Diyawadana Nilame and exchanged some views regarding the upcoming Kandy Esala Perahera Festival, its security program, and other important matters. Diyawadana Nilame appreciated the continuous commitment of the army to the Esala Perahera Festival and also expressed his gratitude to all the army members who were involved in the preparation of Copra.
කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ පෙරහර මහා මංගල්ලය ආලෝකවත් කරන්නට ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදාවෙන් මෙවරත් කොප්පරා පරිත්‍යාග කරනු ලැබුවා. ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදාධිපති ලුතිනන් ජෙනරල් විකුම් ලියනගේ මැතිතුමා විසින් ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ දී අද (අගෝ. 11) පෙරවරුවේ එය සංකේතාත්මකව නිලමේතුමා වෙත පිළිගන්වනු ලැබුවා. ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ පෙරහර කොප්පරා පන්දම් වලින් ආලෝකවත් කිරීම සදහා අවශ්‍ය සම්පූර්ණ කොප්පරා ප්‍රමාණය වන කිලෝ විසිදහසකට ආසන්න ප්‍රමාණය ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදාව විසින් ඒ අනුව පූජා කරනු ලබනවා. 2014 වසරේ සිට පෙරහර මංගල්ලයට අවශ්‍ය කොප්පරා ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවට පරිත්‍යාග කරනු ලබන්නේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදාවේ විජයබාහු පාබල රෙජිමේන්තුව ප්‍රමුඛව සෙසු රෙජිමේන්තුවල බැතිසිත් දායකත්වයෙනී.
කොප්පරා තොගය ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවෙත භාරදීමෙන් අනතුරුව, දියවඩන නිලමේතුමාගේ සහ යුද්ධ හමුදාධිපතිතුමාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් පැවති කෙටි උත්සව අවස්ථාවේදී මෙවර ඇසළ පෙරහර පැවැත්වීමට අදාල ආරක්‍ෂක වැඩපිළිවෙල සහ අනෙකුත් වැදගත් කරුණු සම්බන්ධව අදහස් හුවමාරු කර ගන්නා ලදී. එහිදී දියවඩන නිලමේ තුමා විසින් ඇසළ පෙරහර මංගල්ලය සඳහා යුද්ධ හමුදාවේ අඛණ්ඩ කැපවීම අගය කළ අතර, කොප්පරා පූජාව සඳහා දායක වූ සියළුම වීරෝදාර රණවිරුවන් වෙතද සිය කෘතඥතාව පළ කළේය.
අනතුරුව දියවඩන නිලමේතුමා විසින් යුද්ධ හමුදාවේ වීරෝදාර රණවිරුවන් නොකඩවා ඉටු කරනු ලබන කොප්පරා පූජාව අගයමින් යුද්ධ හමුදාධිපතිතුමන් වෙත විශේෂ සමරු තිළිණයක් ප්‍රදානය කරන ලදී.
