පල්ලේමාලෙ බුදු මැදුර තියෙන්නේ පත්තිරිප්පුව ළඟ. ඒ කියන්නේ මාලිගාව ඇතුළෙන් පත්තිරිප්පුවට ගොඩවෙන තැන දකුණු පැත්තට වෙන්න තමයි පල්ලේමාලෙ විහාරය පිහිටලා තියෙන්නේ. මේ බුදුගේ හදලා තියෙන්නේ කීර්ති ශ්‍රි රාජසිංහ රජතුමා. මෙම විහාරයට ගොඩවෙන්න තියෙන්නේ සදකඩ පහනකින් අලංකාර වූ පඩිපෙළකින්. කීර්ති ශ්‍රි රාජසිංහ රජතුමා ඉදිකරවු මේ බුදුමැදුර රාජාධිරාජසිංහ රජතුමා වැඩිදියුණු කර තිබෙනවා.මේ බුදු මැදුර ඇතුලේ විශේෂ රූප දෙකක් තියෙනවා. වැලිවිට සංඝරාජයන් වහන්සේ හා රාජසිංහ රජතුමාගේ සිතුවම් දෙකක්.
දළදා වහන්සේ මහනුවර වැඩමවාගෙන ඒමට පෙර වැඩසිටියේ කුරුවිට දෙල්ගලමුව රජමහා විහාරයේනේ. ඉතින් දෙල්ගමුවේ සිට මහනුවර දළදා වහන්සේ වැඩමවා ගෙන ආ බව කියන කරඬුව තියෙන්නේ මේ පල්ලේමාලෙ විහාරයේ. මේ විහාරය ඇතුලේ බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමා රැසක් තිබෙනවා. ලොකුම පිළිමය රන් පිළිමයක්. ඒ අසලම තමයි අර මුලින් කිව්ව කරඬුව තියෙන්නේ. ඒ ඇතුලේ පලිඟු පිළිමයක් තියෙනවා. දළදා වහන්සේට කෙරෙන තේවා ගැන කලින් ලිව්වනේ. ඉතින් ඒ උඩුමාලේ ගඳකිළියේ හෙවත් වැඩසිටින මාලිගයේ තේවාව කෙරෙන වෙලාවටමයි පල්ලේමාලෙ බුදුගෙයි තේවාව සිදුවෙන්නේ. මේ තේවා කටයුතු සදහා හාමුදුරුනමක් හා මුලාදෑණිවරයෙක් ඉන්නවා. එයාව පුරාණයේ හැදින්වුයේ පල්ලේමාලෙ රාල කියලයි. දළදා මාලිගාවේ තේවාවේ ඉන්න බාලම හාමුදුරුවෝ තමයි පල්ලේමාලේ තේවාවට පත්වෙන්නේ. ගඳකිළියේ බුද්ධ පුජාවට වෑංජන තිස්දෙකක් පූජා කළත් පල්ලේමාලේ බුද්ධ පුජාවට ගන්නේ වෑංජන අටක් පමණයි. පල්ලේමාලෙ තියෙන්නේ රිදි පාත්‍ර. නමුත් උඩුමාලේ පාත්‍ර රනින් කළ ඒවා. පල්ලේමාලේ බුදුමැදුරේ විවිධ චිත්‍ර තිබෙනවා.සත්සතිය, සූවිසි විවරණය චිත්‍රයට නගා තියෙනවා. ඒ වගේම විෂ්ණුදෙවියන්ගේ හා සමන් දෙවියන්ගේ රූප දෙකකුත් මෙහි දක්නට ලැබෙනවා. පල්ලේමාලෙ බුදුමැදුරට තේවාවට හාමුදුරුවෝ වඩින්නෙත් උඩුමාලේ හාමුදුරුවෝ එක්කමයි. ඒ තේවාවට හාමුදුරුවෝ වඩින ආකාරය මීට පෙර ලිපියකින් කියා තිබෙනවා. (කියවන්න: t.ly/kxBy) මෙම බුදු මැදුරේ තියෙනවා පද්ම බන්ධනේ කියලා රූපයක්. එහි ඇතුළත ලියලා තියෙනවා සංසාර සාරෝඝ විනීත නීසං කියන ගාථා.(රත්නමාලී ගාථාව) මේ ගාථාව පටන් ගන්නෙත් “ස ” යන්නෙන්. අවසන් කරන්නේත් “ස” යන්නෙන්.
Pallemale Shrine is located next to the Paththirippuwa or the Octagonal pavilion. When you are walking towards the Paththirippuwa from inside the temple, Pallemale Shrine is on the right side. There is a Sandakada Pahana or a Moonstone at the entrance and the shrine was build during the era of King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe. The shrine was enhanced by king Rajadhirajasinghe. There are two special frescos inside of Ven. Welivita Sangaraja thero and of king Rajasinghe. The Sacred Tooth Relic was brought from Kuruwita Delgamuwa Raja Maha Vihara to the kingdom of Kandy. The casket which enshrined the Sacred Tooth Relic at that time is kept here next to the golden statue and there is a crystal statue.
The Sacred Tooth Relic is enshrined in the upper floor in a special chamber called Gandhakiliya or Wedasitina Maligaya. The Theva or the offerings are done at the same time to the Sacred Tooth Relic as well as the Pallemale Shrine. There is a monk and an official called Muladeeni who is in charge, he was called the Pallemale Rala in ancient times. The monk in charge of Pallemale would be the youngest monk from the Asgiri or Malwathu chapter who is in charge of the theva at that time period. At Pallemale only 8 curries will be offered for Buddha Pooja where as its 32 for the Sacred Tooth Relic. And the dishes used are made out of silver at Pallemale while its Gold in Wedasitina Maligawa. There are so many frescos on the walls of Pallemale that of Sathsathiya, Suvisi Vivaranaya, God Vishnu and God Sumana Saman being some. There is a picture called Padma Bhandane in this shrine and it contains a gatha callef Rathnamali Gathawa which starts from letter Sa “ස” and ends in the same.
