ඓතිහාසික කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ මහා පෙරහර පැවැත්වීමේ පුරාතන චාරිත්‍රය ඉටු කරමින්, කප කැපීම අද අලුයම 4.08ට යෙදුණු සුබ මොහොතින් සිදු කෙරිණ.
එය සිදු කෙරුණේ, මහනුවර ශ්‍රී මහා විෂ්ණු දේවාලයේ බස්නායක නිලමේ මහේන්ද්‍ර රත්වත්තේ මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන්. වසර 300ක සිට මෙම චාරිත්‍රය, අඛණ්ඩව සිදු කෙරේ. අලුත්නුවර, දැඩිමුණ්ඩ දේවාලය වෙත මංගල හස්ති රාජයා පිට හේවිසි තූර්ය වාදන මධ්‍යයේ රැගෙන එන කප පුද පූජා පවත්වා දර්ශනීය පෙරහැරකින් මහනුවර විෂ්ණු මහා දේවාලය වෙත අනතුරුව වැඩමකරන අතර,
එය අද සවස සුබ මොහොතින් කපා සිව්මහා දේවාල වෙත ලබාදීමට නියමිතයි. අනතුරුව හෙට(21) දින කප් සිටුවා, දේවාල අභ්‍යන්තර පෙරහර ආරම්භ කිරීමේ චාරිත්‍ර සිදු කෙරේ.

As per the custom the Kap Chanting was done today at the auspicious time of 4.08 am by Mr Mahendra Ratwatte the Basnayake Nilame of Sri Maha Vishnu Dewalaya, Kandy. This custom has been happening for the last 300 years.
The Kapa is brought to the Aluthnuwara Dadimunda Dewalaya on the ceremonial tusker to the sound of drums and music and after the rituals it is brought to the Vishnu Dewalaya on a beautiful procession.
This will be cut and given to the Sathara Maha Dewala today in the evening and tomorrow the Kap Planting ceremony followed by the Dewala Procession.
