The blessing of official flags at the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is considered the main activity. Accordingly, the first religious activity of blessing all official flags took place today (Sep. 28) morning at Sri Dalada Maligawa in celebration of the 73rd anniversary.

All official flags of Sri Lanka Army were blessed at the Sacred Tooth Relic to commemorate their 73rd anniversary. Ancient kings fought many battles to protect this country, nation & religion and we find proud evidence of this throughout our history. There were great warriors who fought life & death battles with invaders, assisting those kings.

Army officers carried the flags in a procession from ancient Mahamaluwa to the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, representing all units of Sri Lanka Army including, Army Headquarters, Volunteer Forces Headquarters, All Security Forces Headquarters, Maintenance Headquarters, Support Arms, Regiments, other units, and the Sri Lanka Army training school. The flags were handed over to a team of senior officials led by Army Commander Major General Vikum Liyanage inside the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Later Army Commander offered all the official flags to the Sacred Tooth Relic as per the guidance provided by the Nayake Thero in charge of Dalada Rituals (Thewa). Most of the higher-ranking officials were present at the first religious activity organized in commemoration of the 73rd anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.
