Even though Morape Katharagama Devalaya was built recently it has a long history. It’s on the valley of Kothmala stream by the foot of Nuwaraeliya mountain range. There is an interesting folklore behind this building which connects King Buwanekabahu the 4th , Queen Henkanda Biso Bandara and God Katharagama. This is a reconstruction after the initial building was destroyed with the Kothmale Development Project.
