The Ancient Madukanda Sri Dalada Royal Temple in Vavuniya district is one of the main temples in the Northern province. This is spread out in a land of about 20 acres. The ruins around the temple proves that these would have been the accompanying temples and houses. There are many incidents and ancient folk tales around this temple and also about the Northern province where the early Buddhism started in the country
