Kap Chanting (Kap kepeema) ceremony was held today early morning in Sathara Koralaya marking the start of Kandy Esala Perahera Festival

The Kap Chanting (“Kap Kepeema” ) ceremony was held today, the 08th day of the month of Nikini in year 2021 at 04.10 am the auspicious time in Aluthnuwara. This ceremony was organized by the Maha Vishnu Devalaya as per the ancient tradition which was followed for the past 3 centuries continuesely. The “Kapa” which was brought to the Dedimunda devalaya in Aluthnuwara on the Royal tusker with the sounds of drumming and other accompanying instruments was later brought to Sri Maha Vishnu Devalaya in a magnificent procession. The “Kapa” will be distributed among the four devalaya today in evening at 03.10 pm the auspicious time for this. Tomorrow (09) the four devala will commence the procession inside the devala premises.

ඓතිහාසික කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ මහා පෙරහර පැවැත්වීමේ පුරාතන චාරිත්‍රය ඉටු කරමින් “කප කැපීම” රාජ්‍ය වර්ෂ 2021ක් වූ නිකිණි මස 08 වෙනි අද අලුයම 4.10ට යෙදුණු සුබ මොහොතින් අළුත්නුවර දී සිදු කෙරිණ. එය සිදු කෙරුණේ, මහනුවර ශ්‍රී මහා විෂ්ණු දේවාලයේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් ය. සියවස් 3ක පමණ සිට මෙම පෞරාණික චාරිත්‍රය, අඛණ්ඩව සිදු කෙරේ. අලුත්නුවර, දැඩිමුණ්ඩ දේවාලය වෙත මංගල හස්ති රාජයා පිට හේවිසි තූර්ය වාදන මධ්‍යයේ රැගෙන එන කප පුද පූජා පවත්වා දර්ශනීය පෙරහැරකින් මහනුවර ශ්‍රී මහා විෂ්ණු දේවාලය වෙත අනතුරුව වැඩමකරවන අතර, එය අද සවස 3.10ට යෙදෙන සුබ මොහොතින් කප සිව්මහා දේවාල වෙත බෙද‍ා දීමට නියමිතයි. අනතුරුව හෙට(09) දින කප් සිටුවා, අභ්‍යන්තර දේවාල පෙරහර ආරම්භ කිරීමට නියමිතයි.
