The 204th commemoration of the legendary Monarawila Kappetipola Disawa as a brave hero who sacrificed his life for the Sri Lankan nation was held today (Nov. 26) in front of the Kappetipola Memorial at Mahamaluwa of Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy.
Venerable Maha Sangha of both Malwathu & Asgiriya chapters, relatives of Kappetipola Generation, Hon. Diyawadana Nilame of Sri Dalada Maligawa, Basnayaka Nilames of the four main dewala and rural dewala, Mayor of Kandy, Provincial Governor and children from Kandy schools joined this event.
The name of Monarawila Kappetipola, who sacrificed his life for the nation in the Sri Lankan nation’s first freedom struggle, which began with the Sri Lankan nation rallying against in the face of various persecutions during the British rule, is at the top of the list of national heroes.
ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය ජාතිය වෙනුවෙන් දිවි පිදූ අභීත විරුවකු ලෙස ඉතිහාසගත මොණරවිල කැප්පෙටිපොළ මහ දිසාවගේ 204 වෙනි ගුණ සැමරුම අද (නොවැ.26) මහනුවර ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාව, මහමළුවේ පිහිටි කැප්පෙටිපොළ ස්‌මාරකය අභියස දී පවත්වන්නට යෙදුනා.
උභය මහා විහාරීය ගරුතර මහා සංඝරත්නය, කැප්පෙටිපොළ පරම්පාරවේ ඥාතීන් , ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ ගරු දියවඩන නිලමේ තුමන්, සිව් මහා දේවාල සහ පිටිසර දේවාල බස්නායක නිලමේවරුන්, මහනුවර පුරපති තුමන්, පළාත් ආණ්ඩුකාර තුමන් සහ මහනුවර පාසල්වල දරු දැරියන් ඇතුළු පිරිසක් මේ සඳහා එක්වූහ.
එදා ඉංග්‍රීසි පාලන සමයේ දී එල්ල වූ විවිධ තාඩන පීඩන හමුවේ ඊට එරෙහිව ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය ජාතිය පෙළ ගස්‌වමින් ආරම්භ වූ මෙරට ප්‍රථම නිදහස්‌ අරගලයේදී, ජාතිය වෙනුවෙන් දිවි දුන් මොණරවිල කැප්පෙටිපොළ ජාතික වීර නාමාවලියේ ඉහළින් වැජඹේ.
