DegaldoruwaRoyal Temple, which is situated about 7 km away from Kandy city is famous as an art gallery for its frescoes of the Kandyan era. The frescoes are a main attraction of tourists so they include Degaldoruwa in their travel map of Kandy.The building of the temple was started by King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe but later completed by his brother King Rajadhirajasinghe and offered to MorathotaBuddharakkithathero and his students. This fact is inscribed in the copper inscription by King Rajadhirajasinghe at the Degaldoruwa temple. Building the temple was completed in year 1786. These frescoes are an attractive study destination of students studying frescoes of the Kandyan era.
