Ambokka Sri Paththini Devalaya (temple) is situated on a small hill in Matale district. This was built by King Walagamba after the birth of his son, as a vow made to Goddess Paththini. Even though this temple was renovated periodically, the old architectural features are still visible. Once this temple was full of devotees but today it’s empty and silent. The rituals performed by the king is still performed by the lineage in charge of theva.
මාතලේ දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ කුඩා කඳු මුදුනක පිහිටි අම්බොක්ක ශ්‍රී මහා පත්තිනි දේවාලය වළගම්බා රජුට පුත් කුමාරයකු ලැබීමේ බාරයක් ඔප්පුකිරීමට පත්තිනි දෙවියන් උදෙසා ඉදිකල බව ජනප්‍රවාදයේ දැක්වේ. වරින් වර නවිකරණයනට ලක් වුව ද පැරණි ගෘහ නිර්මාණ ලක්ෂණ අදටත් දැකිය හැකිය. අතීතයේ බැතිමතුන්ගෙන් පිරීගිය මේ පුජා භුමිය වර්තමානයේ හුදෙකලාවට ලක් වුව ද රජ දවස පටන් පැවත එන පුරාණ චාරිත්‍ර එම පරම්පරාවන් විසින් අදටත් ආරක්ෂා කරනු දක්නට පිළිවන.
