Ambakka Katharagama Devalaya, which can be called a world-renowned art gallery is situated in – between Kandy & Gampola cities. It is built on the Royal gardens of Queen Henakanda Biso Bandara, the Queen of King Wickramabahu the 3rd.
The “Digge” or the Dancers Hall is believed to be a design of famous architect “Devindra Moolacharya” who is also the main architect of Sri Dalada Maligawa. The 32 pillars supporting the roof are adorned with intricate carvings proof of mastery of Sri Lankan wood carvings. The carvings were done by Delgoda Moolacharin. The building complex is well structured and is all inclusive.
