1. A word of guidance from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic to those joining the veneration of the Sacred Tooth Relic
  • Please come dressed in modest and respectful attire.
  • Behave respectfully and modestly both within the premises of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and outside.

  • Refrain from bringing items harmful to the sacred premises, such as polythene and plastic.

2. What are the available access routes/entrances for the exposition of The Sacred Tooth Relic?
  • There are three main access routes through which one can reach the main entrance gate of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

    1. The designated queue path leading from D. S. Senanayake street towards Trincomalee street  leading to the main entrance of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

    2. The designated queue path established from the direction of the Rathu Bokkkuwa, extending around the Kandy Lake (through  Sangharaja Mawatha) up to the main entrance of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

    3. The designated queue path established from the direction of the Rathu Bokkkuwa, extending around the Kandy Lake (near the Temple of the Tooth Relic premises) up to the main entrance of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

3. Is it permissible to bring traveling bags when joining the veneration of the Sacred Tooth Relic ?

No, only items intended for offering to the Sacred Tooth Relic may be brought. Large traveling bags can be handed over to the designated holding counters.

  • Near the Water Fountain on Deva Street
  • Near the Joy Boat Service at the Lake Round
  • Near the Avanhala restaurants at the Lake Round
  • Near the Rathu Bokkkuwa Junction (Ampitiya Junction)
4. Is vehicle parking available within the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic premises?

No. You will need to make separate arrangements to park your vehicle at a public car park in Kandy or another suitable location.

5. Is photography or videography allowed?

Photography and videography are permitted outside the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic premises; however, it is strictly prohibited within the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic  premises. You must need to turn off your devices at the main entrance. 

6. Can regular visits to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic take place during the exposition period?

Yes, regular visits can take place during times when the exposition rituals are not being conducted. You can use times in below

5.30AM – 9.30AM
5.30PM –  8.30PM

7. Are accommodation facilities available for those attending the veneration of the Sacred Tooth Relic?

Accommodation will be provided only if it is absolutely necessary, or for elderly or differently-abled individuals. Facilities such as Kappetipola college and Vivekananda college  may be used for this purpose.
