කලින් කලට නොයෙක් ආකාරයේ වීරයින් බිහි වෙනවා. ඇතැමුන් ජනතාවගේ සිත් තුල සදාකල් ලැගුම් ගන්නා අතරම ඇතැමුන් ඒ ඒ කාලයත් සමඟම මතකයෙන් ගිලිහි යනවා. ලොව පුරා සිටින බෞද්ධ ජනතාවට තම ජිවිත කාලය පුරාවට අමතක නොවන බොදු විරුවකුගේ 156 උපන් දිනය අදට(17) යෙදී තිබෙනවා. ඒ බෞද්ධ පුනරුදයේ පුරෝගාමියෙක් වූ දොන් ඩේවිඩ් හේවාවිතාරණ හෙවත් ශ්‍රීමත් අනගාරික ධර්මපාල තුමාගේ ය. ධර්මපාල තුමාගේ ජන්ම දිනය වෙනුවෙන් ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාව පරිශ්‍රයේ පිහිටි එතුමන්ගේ පිළිරුවට පුෂ්පෝපහාර දැක්වූයේ මෙලෙසින් ය.
Heroes are born from time to time, some fade away from our memory after a while but some live in our heart forever. Today the 17th September, is the 156th birth anniversary of a hero who lives in the heart of Buddhists worldwide. That is none other than Don David Hewawitharana known among us as Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala who is one of the main figures in Buddhist Revolution. In celebration, the statue located in the Sri Dalada Maligawa premise was garlanded with flowers.
