This is an ancient temple built in a cave on a lonely mountain top. Dedicated to God Natha the godly form of Maithree Bodhisatta (future Buddha). Not sure about the time period it was built but the faded stone encryption and the cave encryptions date back to the 3rd century same time Arahant Mihidhu came to Sri Lanka with the teachings of Buddha. The relationship and the sponsorship of ruling kings throughout the time can be seen by the image house, the moonstones, and the carvings of all eras.
ගල් ගුහාවක් පාදක කරගත් මෙම ඉදිකිරිම හුදෙකලා කඳු මුදුනක පිහිටි ඉපැරණි පුද බිමකි. මතු දිනෙක මෛත්‍රී බුදු බව ලබන්නේ යැයි සැළකෙන නාථ දෙවියන් උදෙසා ඉදිකර ඇති මේ දෙවොල කවර කලෙක ඉදිකර ඇත්දැයි පැහැදිලි නැතත්, මෙහි ඇති ඉපැරණි සෙල්ලිපිය සහ අවට ඇති ලෙන්ලිපි මඟින් මිහිඳු හිමියන්ගේ ලංකා ගමනයට සමකාලීනව 3වන සියවසේ පමණ ඉදි වී ඇති බවට විශ්වාස කළ හැකියි. දිගු ඉතිහාසයක සිට මහනුවර අවසන් රාජ්‍ය සමය දක්වාම මෙම දේවාලයට ලැබුණු රාජ අනුග්‍රහය දේවාලයට යාබද බුදුමැදුර තුලින් ද, අවට ඇති සඳකඩ පහන් සහ අනෙකුත් කැටයම් වලින්ද අනුමාන කල හැකිය.
