1948 පෙබරවාරි මස 04 වැනි දින කොළඹ නිදහස් චතුරශ්රයට පැමිණි නිදහස් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ප්රථම අග්රාමාත්ය මහාමාන්ය ඩී. එස්. සේනානායක මහතා, වර්ෂ 1815 සිට ශත වර්ෂයකටත් අධික කාලයක් ශ්රී ලංකාව යටත් කර ගෙන සිටි බ්රිතාන්ය අධිරාජ්යවාදීන්ගෙන් පූර්ණ නිදහස ලබා ගැනීම උදෙසා තීරණාත්මක කාර්ය්යක් ඉටුකරන ලද නායකයෙකී.
The statue of Hon. D.S. Senanayake at Mahamaluwa has been tributed with flowers to mark the occasion of the 75th National Independence Day of Sri Lanka, today(Feb 04) morning Hon. D.S. Senanayake, the first Prime Minister of independent Sri Lanka, who came to Independence Square in Colombo on February 4, 1948, was a leader who performed an indefatigable task to gain full independence from the British imperialists who had conquered Sri Lanka for more than a century since 1815.
