The 196th Commemoration of Veera Keppetipola

The Commemoration of Veera Keppetipola who fought valiantly against the kings with the clear motive of saving the country, Nation and the Buddhism was held for the 196th time at the esplanade of the Sri Dalada Maligawa.

In the year 1818 November 26th, on a day like this Keppetipola Rajapaksha Wikramasekara Bandaranayaka or Weera Kapetipola Maha Nilame who is treated as a traitor sacrificed his life in name of the nation. In commemoration of this an as a salute a police parade was held.

At this occasion few of his family members participated and religious offerings were made with the presentation of “Mathka Wasthra”. Most Ven Niangoda Vijithasiri Anunaya Thero (from Malwatta Chapter), Most Ven Aluth Gama Dammananda and Vendaruwe Upali Nayaka Thero (Of Maligawa Services) and a large number of monks were presented at this occasion.

Hon Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela, Hon Tikiri Kobbakaduwa Governor Central Province, Senior Police Central Province and a large number of people participated at this occasion.
